Friends of Fort Point Channel Summer Music Series

Los Angeles-based Janiva Magness is one of todayís most talented and recognized blues and roots vocalists. Singer Magazine writes, "Her voice is sultry, smoky and strong with jazz, blues, and soul textures enveloping it." With outstanding vocals, style and poise, Magness is best known for her sauciness and the bold, brazen beauty of her recordings and performances.

Held on the museum's Sundial Plaza. In case of rain or the threat of rain, concerts are held in the tent pavilion. Concerts produced by the EcoTarium and WICN Public Radio

7:30-8:45: beginner swing dance lesson, no partner needed.

8:45-1am: dancing, with live music and DJ's in the breaks. Cash bar, ample free lot-parking, all ages admitted

2nd Show 10:00pm

Singer-guitarist Dr. Michael Payton has entertained packed crowds in the late-night, smoky, urban bars of Chicago's west and south sides. Learning his trade from a "who's who" of the blues greats, he now carries the torch in the lineage of soulful, electrified blues players. His band includes Berklee College of Music alumni Matt Getman on saxophone, Bob Sparadeo on drums and Ben Butterworth on bass.
