2:30pm the Champaign, Illinois-based Kilborn Alley Blues Band takes the stage, performing original songs from their two critically acclaimed CDs that have climbed the blues radio charts.

4:00 - 7:00pm - River City BluesFest @ ELIXIR presents legendary blues harmonica ace and singer JAMES MONTGOMERY who brings his hotter-than-ever band to the River City BluesFest after opening for Aerosmith last fall at the Tweeter Center and performing with Stephen Stills at a recent UNICEF event honoring Stills.

A Detroit native, James started his first band in the 1960's while learning the blues first-hand from John Lee Hooker, James Cotton and Junior Wells.Since 2000, James has been busier than ever, touring throughout Europe and the U.S as a member of the Johnny Winter Band; opening for B.B. King at his 80th birthday concert at Boston's Symphony Hall; performing with Steven Tyler and Aerosmith members at fundraisers; and organizing star-studded benefit concerts to fund health care for blues musicians. 

The James Montgomery Band's upcoming CD features members of Aerosmith, blues legend James Cotton, Johnny Winter and DMC.

BIG BUGS GRAND OPENING DAY "Meet the Beetles"-with Beatles Tribute Band "Help!" costumed creatures, and encounter 13 giant bug sculptures throughout the Garden, by artist David Rogers. Take a grasshopper jump, build a bug at the interactive mini-park, take a Bug-Venture, and more. Don't miss the most GIGANTIC show of the year, with special bug activities each weekend. “A PERFECT SPOT OF TEA,” a revival of the Colonial custom of afternoon tea. Visitors are invited to linger on the Museum’s breezy back veranda while enjoying a leisurely cup of tea, delectable pastries, and talented local musicians.

Mark Jodice trades in his big hollow-body for a strat and lets it rip throughout. Bassist Jerry Wilfong drops the dog house for a "pork chop", while Sai Ghose plays hooky from the land of piano black and white and lays down the groove underneath of funk, jazz and metal.

Opening the season, The Temptations know how to generate wonderful “Memories” as they entertain sold-out audiences around the globe. Dennis Edwards, one of the last surviving members of the legendary group The Temptations has been making music for more than thirty years. Known as one of the most influential singers in the history of Pop music, Edwards was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Alabama Hall of Fame in 1999. He has 14 Golden Albums and 5 Grammys

featuring popular harmonica player Johnny Bishop and renowned guitarist Ed Eastridge, perform with Charlie Hilbert on bass. Profoundly moved the first time heard the blues, Johnny B has never looked back. Now, over 30 years later, he's still at it. A six-year stint working at Hohner USA in Richmond, Virginia, was a turning point. (He is a Hohner Harmonica endorsee.) From then on, playing music became his full-time passion, and he has been featured blowing harp with Muddy Water's Legendary Blues Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, The Nighthawks, Bob Margolin, and Tinsley Ellis. Johnny has opened for Delbert McClinton, Billy Price and The Keystone Rhythm Band, The Skip Castro Band, The Marshall Tucker Band and Kenny Neal.
