Eden MacAdam-Somer Walking Between the Worlds

New England Conservatory's internationally renowned Jazz Studies and Contemporary Improvisation Departments announce over 100 free concerts for the 2013-2014 season, September 3, 2013 - May 30, 2014.

Eden MacAdam-Somer is one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians performing today. She’s been hailed by the New York Times as reflecting "astonishing virtuosity and raw expression," and her music transcends genre through soaring violin and fiddling, vocals, and percussive dance, weaving in and out of the many cultures that have formed her experience.

New England Conservatory's internationally renowned Jazz Studies and Contemporary Improvisation Departments announce over 100 free concerts for the 2013-2014 season, September 3, 2013 - May 30, 2014.

The CI department opens the academic year with a faculty showcase, featuring performances by Ran Blake, Hankus Netsky, Anthony Coleman, Dominique Eade, Eden MacAdam-Somer, Jerry Leake, and many others.

Shira E

Shira E is a nationally acclaimed poet, musician, and artist. A Pushcart Prize nominee who has toured the country with some of the nation’s leading performers and writers. Her award-winning music has appeared in multiple independent films, on NPR and on national TV. She has shared stages with Ani DiFranco, TuNe-YaRds and CocoRosie. She has been independently recording and releasing her records for more than 10 years. Originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, she now lives in Brooklyn, New York.

The Wandas / Krief / Rabbit and the Hare

The self-titled album from The Wandas was named one of the "50 Best Albums of 2011" by Guitar World magazine. The band’s new album, New Interface (a design with friends for the future) has been praised for its exceptional songwriting and forceful performances. USA Today raves "'Do or Die.' Ooh, I can't get tired of this one — and after the first chorus, I couldn't get tired of singing it, either. The Wandas may remind you a bit of early Wilco, although they hail from Boston." Josh Krajcik / Ryan Schmidt

When he was just 16 years old, Josh Krajcik schemed his way onto the stage of a bar near his hometown of Wooster, Ohio. Over the next 14 years, Krajcik fronted a host of musical projects and eventually founded the Josh Krajcik Band, a three-piece blues-rock outfit that toured with Corinne Bailey Rae and the Fray, and appeared at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2006. But by 2011, Krajcik was fighting to sustain his music career, and ended up taking a job at a burrito joint to make ends meet.
