Bruce Bartlett Trio

The streets are paved with guitar players in this age-old town. You can see them as you walk around -- their tuning pegs and whammy bars sticking up through the pavement, their hands frozen in the shape of a Jimmy Page lick. The ones left standing tend to be pretty good.

And then there's Bruce Bartlett. It's no exaggeration to say that Bruce is a pillar of jazz-funk-blues guitar culture in this intensely jazzy, funky, bluesy place.

The Greg Hopkins 16 Piece Jazz Orchestra

There is some history here, and a whole lot of dues. The musicians have extensive road credentials, traveling and recording with such jazz luminaries as Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Art Blakey, Stan Getz, Bill Evans, Tony Williams, Lonnie Smith, and George Russell, just to name a few. An ensemble of this nature gathers together not without the idea of recreating some of the intense energy of those "road band" days. The maturity of ensemble playing and depth of improvisation is an obvious result of all that experience.

Lookie Lookie

Lookie Lookie is the brainchild of bassist Chris Maclachlan, best known for his work in the seminal Boston punk band Human Sexual Response.

Maclachlan has an abiding love for Latin Bugalu, a crossover genre invented primarily by Newyorican musicians in the 1960s. Incredibly fun and catchy, Bugalu lies somewhere between the stately Cuban sounds of the 50s and the manic high salsa of the 70s. Top artists included Joe Cuba and Ricky Ray, whose tunes form the backbone of the new band's repertoire. In fact, the band is named for an early Rickie Ray hit,

Poor Old Shine

Foot stomping, mind racing, fast flinching music - day in and day out, Poor Old Shine is the Roots- Americana collaboration of Chris Freeman and Will Leet. They travel with an assortment of instruments including guitars, banjos, pump organ, string bass, cello, a swarm of harmonicas, and a yard-sale-scrap-metal drum set. It’s old songs with a new feel, banjos with paint peeled, shoes with holes and treadless soles, and music that is real.
