The Primate Fiasco w/Skunk Jesus & The Jazz Apostles

To a deaf person, they look like a New Orleans dixieland street band. To a blind person, they sound like a rave DJ mashing-up house beats with 60’s folk lyrics. To the police, it’s a busy day on the sidewalk.

The Primate Fiasco uses instruments that are loud without electricity, giving them the opportunity to attack at any moment, in any location, with or without permission. No one is safe, not even an elevator or city bus. If The Primate Fiasco sees a dull moment somewhere, they will pop out of the nearest sewer drain or trash can to lead an irresistible dance party.

Howard Martin Quartet

After years of careful listening and writing about music, Michael Rosenstein began improvising with amplified everyday objects. He and Morgan Evans-Weiler played in a duo for a while, and eventually they invited James Coleman and Howard Martin to round out a quartet. From their first practice, they found a flexible group sound that includes quiet, considered playing but does not shy away from drama or abrupt transitions. They had chosen another name, a Beckett reference, but by virtue of a misprinted flyer became the HMQ.

2120 South Michigan Avenue

2120 South Michigan Avenue plays the real deal Chicago blues. Its name is the hallowed address of Chess Records in Chicago, the studio where Muddy Waters, Little Walter Jacobs, Sonny Boy Williamson, Etta James and other great blues artists recorded the songs that form the backbone of the band's repertoire. 2120 also plays some Memphis and Texas blues, a smattering of R&B songs – and a couple of oldtime rock and roll hits just for fun.
