Meg Hutchinson CD release

Lyric-based, contemporary acoustic songwriter. Influences include poet Mary Oliver, songwriter Shawn Colvin, and mood maker David Gray. Originally from rural western-most Massachusetts, Hutchinson is now based in the Boston area. She has won numerous songwriting awards in the US, Ireland, and UK, including recognition from John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Billboard Song Contest and prestigious competitions at Merlefest, NewSong, Kerrville, Falcoln Ridge, Telluride, and Rocky Mountain Folk Festivals.

John Doyle

John Doyle’s gifts as a guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, and producer have played an essential role in the ongoing renaissance of Irish traditional music. As a member of Irish-American supergroup Solas – and a highly sought-after session player – Doyle pioneered a rhythmic, sophisticated approach to Irish guitar accompaniment, setting a new standard for the instrument.

Jill Sobule

Jill Sobule belongs to a rare breed of artists. Her work is at once deeply personal and socially conscious, seriously funny and derisively tragic. Over five albums and a decade of recording, the Denver-born songwriter/ guitarist/singer has tackled such topics as the death penalty, anorexia, shoplifting, reproduction, the French resistance movement, adolescence, and the Christian right. Did we mention love? Love found, love lost, love wished for and love taken away.

Ryan Lee Crosby (CD Release), Quarterly & Allysen Callery open

Ryan Lee Crosby is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and music teacher in Boston, MA. Over the last decade, Crosby has released three full length albums and as many EPs, which have received national airplay and collected prized local accolades such as “Best Singer/Songwriter” in the Boston Phoenix/WFNX Radio Music Poll.  This evening will also be the release of his new album, Institution Blues.

TITLE: Multiple Agency in Mozart's Chamber Music: A New Angle on Sonata Theory

SPEAKER: Edward Klorman is chair of music theory and analysis at The Juilliard School, where he also teaches chamber music. An avid violist and scholar, he is completing a book on the metaphors of conversation and social interplay in Mozart's chamber music and their implications for form and metrical analysis.
