BroadBand is the brainchild of four college pals nostalgic for their a cappella glory days who decided to dig up some old arrangements and play. Three founders are still with us: Jana, Evangeline and Mary-Elise (M-E). Like power shoppers at a Macy's sale, they picked up a few extras -- Mary-Elise called on her high school buddy, Mimi (alumna), who knew Carla from their kids' preschool, who went to college with Tina, who told her neighbor Rebecca, who brought in her friend, Polly (alumna). Polly knew Hope and Erika. Evangeline knew Karen from the tennis courts.

Lloyd Thayer CD Release Show

Lloyd Thayer is a unique performer, the likes of which you won't see often.
He plays all of his songs on a 1929 National Tricone Squareneck steel guitar laying flat in his lap, fretted with a metal bar. Lloyd is an underground legend from playing on the streets and in the subways of Boston, where his funky style is always sure to draw a crowd.

BCMFest Urban Ceilidh at the Atrium

Always one of BCMFest’s most popular events, the “BUC” spotlights some of Boston's premier Celtic musicians playing high-energy dance music of Ireland, Scotland and Cape Breton. "Ceilidh" (pronounced "kay-lee") is an old Gaelic word that refers to a user-friendly social dance party, with emphasis on "user-friendly." Think "contra dance meets mosh pit" -- centuries-old dance traditions in a contemporary style, where the idea is just to get out there on the floor and move with the music. All dances are taught, so beginners as well as the more experienced are welcome.
