What would it be like to experience the end of the world? My guest tonight is CRAIG CHILDS, writer, journalist and commentator for NPR’s Morning Edition. Childs decided to investigate for him self the feeling of the apocalypse. This entailed visiting some of the most dangerous and remote parts of the earth while also sitting down with climatologists, biologists and other scientists concerned about the end of life, as we know it. Childs book is APOCALYPTIC PLANET: FIELD GUIDE TO THE EVERENDING EARTH.

An Evening with Parker’s Tangent – Art Rock

Parker’s Tangent, based out of greater New Haven, CT plays blues and roots based original art rock. The music can be poetic, quiet and touching to bluesy to out and out rocking. This is a professional group that has a lot of fun performing and that fun is picked up by the audience.

The band’s lineup is comprised of a female lead singer whose wonderful, warm sultry voice has been compared to Grace Slick and Nora Jones, drums [also female] rhythm and lead guitar, bass, and violin!

Om Shalom Trio – Ravi Shankar meets Itzhak Perlman

Om Shalom Trio, musical group that combine traditional Jewish music with Classical Indian music. In our performances, we draw on rhythmic and melodic aspects from Far Eastern and Middle Eastern roots to create a fusion of Indian Classical and Jewish folk. The two words that join to form the Om Shalom’s name are both synonymous with peace and the Sacred. The path of music is peace.
