New World Jazz Composers Octet

The music is a kaleidoscope: shifting effortlessly from the intimacy of a piano trio to the shouting horns of a big band. The music conjures a range of feelings, from Jobim's melodic and harmonic warmth, to the spontaneity and excitement of Charles Mingus' groups, to the harmonic pastels of Herbie Hancock's explorations of the late 60's.

Framingham High School Poetry Slam Finals

Framingham High School will hold the final round of its eighth annual poetry slam.

A "slam:" is a competition between teams of poets who perform their own original work, bringing poetry off the page and onto the stage in a gloves-off, no-holds-barred verbal boxing match with judges chosen randomly from the audience.

Joe Fredette CD Release - Benefit for Amazing Things

One of our own; Joe Fredette is a singer-songwriter-guitarist known for his innovative blend of classic rock, southern rock, blues and folk sounds with infectious grooves and melodies and beautifully crafted lyrics that reflect the heart and soul of an artist striving for a more enlightened and peaceful world.

Joe is set to release his second album, "Time Again," (finally!) and will be backed by a full band complement, including some of the finest musicians from the Boston area; many also members of the Amazing Things community.

Be-bop Guitars (Jazz)

The "Be-Bop" Guitars is an all-faculty band from Berklee College Of Music in Boston, MA.

The group began by performing arrangements from "Supersax" and other similar ensembles, and later, adding to the "book" by writing new arrangements and compositions.

Over the years, the ensemble has garnered a steady following of fans that enjoy guitar-oriented jazz.

Their first CD includes new arrangements of music from some of the greats of the jazz world, as well as a few compositions of their own. www.bebopguitars.com

The Big Doozie Presents: The Green Apple Kids Band

Green Apple Kids Band writes songs that inspire celebration and caring for our Earth. Green Apple Jackie and the two Green Apple Steves perform their eco-flavored tunes about nature, animals and recycling in a fun, engaging and interactive presentation.

Focusing on ages 2-8, the band has performed at schools, libraries, festivals, childcare centers and special events.

Set in the imaginary world of the Green Apple Orchard and featuring special puppet guest, Willa the Worm, they present an entertaining show that children love and learn from.
