Blues Benefit 2013 for WCUW

Every year, for 14 years, the Blues programmers at WCUW Community Radio have been putting on this event to raise funds to keep this music genre alive and well on the airwaves.

Each year, a 'Host Band' comes in to set up equipment to accommodate some of the best blues musicians in the area. Undoubtedly one of the best local music nights of the year.

This year we welcome back Mark Laferriere and his bluesmen once again. Mark has been a great help in gathering talent for us for a few years and hosts a blues jam on Wednesday nights at Greendale's.

Legendary multi-instrumentalist, the artist known as S2 -- Stu Ervin -- has performed in bands from Austin to Boston and is currently wanted in every state. Steve Smith lends his gorgeous, country-rock vocals and finger-picking guitar. The great Tim Fiehler, a regular on Boston-area stages, fills in the bottom on standup bass.

Jonathan Edwards

The word 'legend' is often used to describe veteran folk-rocker Jonathan Edwards, who burst on the music scene 40 years ago with
the mega-hit “Sunshine (Go Away Today)” and he followed up with
hits like Emma, Don’t Cry Blue, Shanty, and many more. With uncompromising musical integrity, the man simply delivers night
after night – songs of passion, songs of insight, songs of humor, all rendered in that pure and powerful tenor which, like fine wine, has grown sweeter with age. A vital and relevant artist in today's folk
