First Annual Piano Day

The First Annual Piano Day will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Bezanson Recital Hall in the Music wing of the Fine Arts Center, on the UMass Amherst campus. Created by the Department of Music and Dance for junior/senior high school and college pianists, their parents and teachers, the Free event will enable participants to learn about college auditions and hear UMass Amherst faculty, students and alumni perform.

There's a national callout to the men and doctors of America to sign up for World Vasectomy Day! WVD is the largest male-oriented global family planning event ever, taking place on October 18, 2013.  The goal is to have 1,000 vasectomies performed across 25 countries in 24 hours. Organizers are asking American men to join their brothers around the world to put their "man parts" on the line to help the planet and encourage vasectomy as a viable family planning option.

Our guest tonight is DAN KENNEDY, assistant professor of journalism at Northeastern University and working journalist for almost 40 years. His new book is THE WIRED CITY: REIMAGINING JOURNALISM AND CIVIC LIFE IN THE POST-NEWSPAPER AGE.

Which combines still life artworks from the museum’s collection with works from a number of contemporary artists.
