Manami Morita

INTERNATIONAL JAZZ PIANO

Japanese born Morita is an international jazz piano phenomenon who has been entertaining audiences on the world stage since age 13.   She started off learning classical piano at the age of 4.  Unfortunately, she hated piano lessons, because she couldn’t stand all the rules in classical piano.  On the other hand, she loved playing as she wanted and felt.  At the age of 13, she met Jazz.

Nando Michelin

WORLD JAZZ

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Nando came to Boston to study at the Berklee College of Music where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He is currently recording and performing with his trio that features Esperanza Spalding on bass and vocals and Richie Barshay on drums and percussion, and with a quartet featuring Leala Cyr on vocals and trumpet, John Lockwood on bass, and Tiago Michelin on drums.

Beat Hôtel Brings Touch of Ireland to Cambridge’s Harvard Square

WHAT: On Monday, March, 17th, 2014, Irish eyes will be smiling at Beat Hôtel’s first annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. In partnership with Boston Irish Tourism Association (BITA), the newly opened brasserie and bar will bring a touch of traditional Irish fare to Harvard Square with Irish-inspired libations and food specials from Executive Chef Rebecca Newell, as well as authentic entertainment from Boston-based musicians, Matt & Shannon Heaton.

Aaron Bellamy

SOUL & FUNK

Bellamy is a Boston native and began playing music at an early age and has toured the world with world famous acts including nationally acclaimed soul singer Martin Luther (The Roots, Rebel Soul Records), PlayonBrother Band with Alan Evans (of Soulive), the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, and numerous other local and national acts. Also a guitarist, songwriter, arranger and engineer, Bellamy fronts his own project The Brothers Bellamy Band with his brother Luke Bellamy on drums.

Fitchburg State University Foundation Music Lessons Program Faculty Recitals

Members of the Fitchburg State University Foundation Music Lessons Program faculty will present a free recital on Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in Kent Recital Hall in the Conlon Fine Arts Building, 367 North St.

The concert will feature instructors Paul Luria (guitar), Sarah Masterson (piano), Ning Tien (cello) and the New England Piano Trio.

Piano instructor Masterson will also present a solo recital on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. at Kent Recital Hall. The free performance will include pieces by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Florence Price.

Presented by Berklee, NPR Music, and WBGO FM, The Checkout - Live at Berklee, brings critically acclaimed alumni back to their alma mater for intimate concerts at Cafe 939. The series continues on Wednesday, April 2, with guitarist Matthew Stevens and his quintet, featuring Gerald Clayton (piano), Vicente Archer (bass), and fellow alumni Eric Doob (drums) and Paulo Stagnaro (percussion).
