DON WHITE SAYS:
It is easy to think that certain great comedians are just simply born with an extraordinary God-given talent for engaging an audience and that there is nothing that a mere mortal man or woman can do to acquire these skills. This is, in my humble opinion, simply not true.

Live Band Swing Dance with Bombay Jim and the Swingin' Sapphires
Amazing Things is always open to new Ideas and new projects. Jim Porcella called to tell us that the band was interested in starting a swing dance scene at the Center. "You Betcha" was our answer. We're gonna give it a try here and if it works we'll schedule a monthly dance.
So shine 'em up an' flap 'em! Bombay Jim and the Swinging Sapphires is one of the country's hottest swing bands. Featured on the HBO Series, "Family Bonds", and heard on jazz and swing radio stations throughout the nation. Video Clip
Listening to Teresa Ines music is traveling through flashes of rhythms and melodies, many of which this talented singer and composer has been characterized as an incessant exploration of a unique blend of rhythms and sounds of her native country. Shrewdly combining her advanced training, a creative musicality, and a great familiarity with Brazilian music, she uses Brazilian folk music and harmonious jazz to sculpt a music of sophistication and tenderness. Ines' voice is characterized as both soft and intense.
Tom Paxton with Walter Crockett opening (Folk Acoustic)
Tom Paxton has become a voice of his generation, addressing issues of injustice and inhumanity, laying bare the absurdities of modern culture, and celebrating the tenderest bonds of family, friends, and community. In describing Tom Paxton's influence on his fellow musicians, Pete Seeger has said: "Tom's songs have a way of sneaking up on you. You find yourself humming them, whistling them, and singing a verse to a friend. Like the songs of Woody Guthrie, they're becoming part of America."
"Elegant. Riveting. Soulful. Classic mastery." These are a few of the terms that have been used to describe the unique and stunning swing-jazz music of acoustic guitarist Guy Van Duser and clarinetist Billy Novick. Together as a duo for more than a quarter of a century, Guy and Billy have performed in concerts, clubs and festivals all over North America and Europe. You also may have heard them as frequent guests of the Prairie Home Companion show, NPR's All Things Considered, or on one of numerous film and television soundtracks.
