Technical Operations Manager

WICN Public Radio, 90.5 FM, New England’s NPR Jazz and Folk Station seeks to hire a Technical Operations Manager who will be responsible for the technical and legal operation of the station in Worcester, MA. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Overall Responsibilities include:

  • The official role of Technical Operations Manager for the station in accordance with FCC requirements
  • Public Filings and Record Keeping in accordance with FCC and other requirements
  • On call for troubleshooting and repair

IT Operations

  • Troubleshooting and coordinating hardware failures
  • Security and privacy maintenance
  • Coordination with vendors for service

Equipment and Facilities Maintenanceand Operations

  • Office equipment
  • Broadcast equipment
  • Facilities

Production

  • Use of the AudioVault system, and Audacity software for spot production
  • Sound engineering of live broadcasts and recorded interviews using mixer

Qualified Candidates Must Have:

  • 2-4 years relevant experience across all responsibilities outlined within
  • Superb organizational and communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be available for after-hours emergency or routine maintenance as the need arises
  • Valid drivers license is required

Underwriting Accounts Manager

WICN Public Radio is New England’s NPR Jazz and Folk station, broadcasting from Worcester, MA to the Greater Worcester region, Metro West, The Blackstone Valley, The Route 495 and Route 9 Corridors and the fringes of Boston, NH,RI and CT. WICN streams live to the world at wicn.org

 

Position Description

The Underwriting Accounts Manager’s primary responsibility is the development and stewardship ofbusiness support for the radio station through cold calling, managing and growing existing assigned accounts/budgets, targeting best prospects in wide open territory, identifying clients’ needs and developing and presenting customized solutions to meet those needs. This individual is also held accountable for achieving revenue targets and collecting on the accounts. A successful candidate must be creative, pro-active, self-motivated, driven to win, disciplined, entrepreneurial and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Compensation for this position includes a base, plus commission.

 

 

Essential Duties

-Steward and grow existing underwriting accounts and provide outstanding account service
-Secure new underwriting accounts, write copy, and manage underwriting traffic
-Work creatively and cooperatively with the team to fulfill underwriting contracts
-Submit weekly progress and activity reports
-Achieve operational and revenue goals and assist with collections

 

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidates must possess exceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skills. They must be self-motivated, goal driven and creative, with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. All employees are expected to bring a positive attitude to the work place and be cooperative and productive. In addition, the right candidate must have:

-College degree or equivalent experience
-Proven interpersonal marketing and sales skills
-Excellent writing and communications skills
-Prior experience in sales/marketing
-Previous radio and/or public media development/sales experience
-Proficiency with MS office products
-A valid driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance
