UNDERWRITING SALES REP
WICN Public Radio, 90.5 FM and streaming at www.wicn.org is New England’s Jazz and Folk station, providing more jazz than any other station in Massachusetts, along with blues, folk, new age, soul and National Public Radio (NPR) news. Qualifications:

3-5 years of Advertising experience with a solid network of media buying contacts

Grant Writer(s) – Internship(s)

OVERVIEW
WICN Public Radio is currently seeking Grant Writing Interns responsible for the research, coordination, content development, and monitoring of Grants that will help fund the programs at WICN Public Radio, Inc.
The grant writer will become knowledgeable of the programs and services offered by WICN Public Radio, research funding sources and write and prepare grant applications.
Please note these unpaid internships offer a flexible full time or part time schedule starting August 2009. <
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Through interview and other means, gather information that will easily allow him/her to grasp the concept of a project or program for which funding is sought.
- Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, and use that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which grants may/will be sought and to recommend the seeking of grants.
- Research grant-making organizations (locally and through provided grant search direction and the internet) and analyze them to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.
- Compile, write and edit all grant applications exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling.
- >Review and/or assist in the creation of the budget of a project or program for which funding is sought and make recommendations to better present it to grant-making organizations.
- Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s preferences and follow exactly each grant-making organization’s guidelines.
- Keep in contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application in order to supply additional supportive material (if allowed during the internship, otherwise update staff on the timeline/monitoring process).
- Develop a process for managing progress reports required by grant making organizations that have funded projects or programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Obtaining or having obtained a Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, Marketing or closely related field.
- Experience in research and internet search
- Confidence calling organizations to inquire about their programs and the requirements and the ability to think creatively about ways to utilize grants for existing programs.
- Above average writing/grammar skills and the ability to write clearly, persuasively and informatively with the ability to vary writing style to meet needs.
- Able to read, interpret and present numerical data effectively.
- Detail oriented with great attention to accuracy and making deadlines.
- Must be well organized and self-motivated.
- Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
- Experience with and knowledge of computer operation including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and the internet.

SOCIAL MEDIA – Internship

OVERVIEW
WICN Public Radio is currently seeking Social Media Interns responsible for the coordination, content development, and analysis of Social Networking/Marketing programs that support brand marketing, talent acquisition, and public relations programs.
The Social Media intern is primarily responsible for using their expertise in the social media arena to unleash WICN's marketing potential. This role requires a highly motivated,self-starter with a strategic vision of the social media landscape and strategic ability to infuse social media best practices across all aspects of our business. This job entails leveraging this unique knowledge and expertise to develop sound social strategies, identify trends, and create and implement best practices and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with WICN’s General Manager to assist in creating and executing social media and networking policy, procedures and branding on sites such as Twitter, TipJoy, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. and in coordination with the WICN website.
- Experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities.
- Strategize and recommend optimization of all digital channels, including page construction, content, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), linking campaigns, blogs, etc. to all team members on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture.
- Recommend and champion testing of new digital channels and tactics.
- Ensure company contacts are in communication to assure smooth inquiry delivery and identify inquiry delivery problems and work with all necessary parties to troubleshoot issues.
- Verify and approve necessary items with WICN’s manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Obtaining or having obtained a Bachelor's degree in either Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Marketing, Communications or closely related field.
- A strong knowledge/familiarity with the internet and social media.
- Experience in research and reporting data and trends.
- Experience with social media and understanding how to leverage these tools.
- Outstanding writing skills.
- Tech savvy on social media functionality.

- Ability to meet deadlines.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in Design/development.
- Portfolio demonstrating excellent web design skills; samples showcasing experience with Internet/Intranet design/development.
- Proficiency with interactive multimedia and graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and HTML web design applications required.
- Expertise in HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, SharePoint and JavaScript a plus.
- Proficiency in MS applications (eg Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
- Strong working knowledge of the end-to-end web development process, including scoping, information architecture, user interface design, site development, usability and user acceptance testing required.
- Strong working knowledge of interactive media design - balancing usability with creativity.
- Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
- Comfort level with rapid change and fast paced environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
