Gabriel Jonas is a jazz guitarist from Bordeaux, France. He is currently enrolled at Berklee College of Music, as a double major in both Film & Media Scoring and Performance.
He has already played in some large venues in Boston including the House of Blues, and at MGM Fenway Hall as lead guitar player for the Singers Showcase Girl On Fire – The Music of Alicia Keys, where he got to play alongside the Berklee alum and alto sax star Grace Kelly.
As part of a Snarky Puppy ensemble, he has also been mentored by Marty Walsh (formerly a session guitarist player for Donny Summer, Supertramp, Christopher Cross, and Randy Crawford, amongst others)
As a performance major at Berklee, he is actively part of a variety of student bands playing weekly, sharing the stage at Berklee campus studios.
He is in the process of composing his first selections of original music and continuing to perform live in and around the Boston area.
WICN Contributing Writer Doug Hall spoke with Gabriel about his journey thus far:
A graduate of both the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Irabagon has been composing and collaborating with both acclaimed experimental jazz guitarist Mary Halvorson and seminal free-jazz saxophonist and composer John Zorn, with whom he recently performed at the Roulette in Brooklyn.
Irabagon has also released two recordings in February of 2024, Recharge the Blade and Survivalism, which you’ll hear about on this podcast.

On this episode, WICN contributing writer and podcast host Doug Hall speaks with Tammy McCann, Chicago-based jazz vocalist, composer, and educator. Ms. McCann began her singing career in the late 1990s as a gospel & opera performer, touring Europe with bands including Wonderbrass and the Voices of Glory. Most recently, in 2019, she debuted a tribute to the legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in the musical production Yes – Mahalia, which was performed in 2022 at the Musical Institute of Chicago. Her latest release is Do I Move You, a fusion of her musical passions. You’ll hear portions of two songs from this release and their conversation.
