Some gardeners plant carefully arranged rows of zinnias and roses. Other gardeners plant row and after row of vegetables and herbs. But a few gardeners choose a different path. They create personal worlds with elaborate arrangements of rocks or vast displays of exotic plants and animals. Others collect carnivorous plants or create gardens that are grim reminders of death. On this episode of Inquiry, we talk with TODD LONGSTAFFE-GOWAN. He is a landscape architect , gardens advisor to Historic Royal Palace, and editor of The London Gardener. His new book is a unique and fascinating history: ENGLISH GARDEN ECCENTRICS: THREE HUNDRED YEARS OF EXTRAORDINARY GROVES, BURROWINGS, MOUNTAINS AND MENAGERIES.
