Jane Russell had a very wild and unusual career. She was discovered by Howard Hughes who was obsessed with her breasts. She starred in films with Robert Mitchum, Bob Hope, and of course Marilyn Monroe. But despite the relentless publicity pushing her image as a sex symbol, in her private life she was politically conservative and deeply religious. On this episode of Inquiry, we talk with CHRISTINA RICE, writer and librarian, and archivist at the Los Angeles Public Library. Her new biography traces Jane’s life and film and television career: MEAN…MOODY…MAGNIFICENT! JANE RUSSELL AND THE MARKETING OF A HOLLYWOOD LEGEND.
