During the Pleistocene in North America, there lived the Giant Short-faced Bear, the largest flesh-eating mammal ever found on the continent. Despite many finds of skeletons of this massive bear from LA to Alaska and east to Indiana, we still do not know how it lived or whether it ever came face to face with humans. On this episode of Inquiry, we talk with MIKE STARK, writer, journalist, and director for the Center for Biological Diversity about his new book CHASING THE GHOST BEAR: ON THE TRAIL OF AMERICA’S LOST SUPER BEAST.
