WICN’s Annual Summer in the City Fund Drive
Written by Emily Morrow on June 19, 2025
You may have heard that public media outlets across the country are facing serious threats to federal and state funding. On June 12th, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 4, the Recissions Act of 2025, a bill that would rescind $1.1 billion in already-approved funding for public media.
If passed, WICN stands to lose over 25% of our total funding.
The loss of public funding would devastate what listeners, members, and supports like you have helped build over the past 57 years. But, no matter what happens in Washington, WICN is here to stay, and we can’t do it without YOU.
Since 1968, WICN has been a vital voice for arts and culture in Central Massachusetts, connecting listeners to our history, our region, and to the world. We’ve amplified the voices of our community by offering artists a platform to share their passions, supporting rising talent, education local youth, and preserving the rich legacy of jazz and more for generations to come.
As an independent station, WICN has always relied on YOU – our listeners, members, and supporters – for the majority of our revenue. An now, your support is more important than ever to ensure that we can meet the future with confidence and remain a trusted source of music, culture, and connection in our community.
Everything we do at WICN is for YOU, because you consistently remind us that music matters – that story telling, culture, and history still belong on the radio.
WICN’s Summer Fund Drive begins June 20 and continues through June 27th. Every donation, large or small, helps keep the music playing and supports the local artists, students, and organizations we serve every day.
Now is the time to stand with us. By giving today, you’re not only helping to keep the music playing, but also protecting a legacy of culture, education, and community that has defined WICN for generations.
Contribute now by calling (508) 752-0700 or by clicking donate now on WICN’s main page.
We’ll be here for you. Thank you for being there for us.
