Shawna Shea Film Festival – July 16-19, 2025
Written by Emily Morrow on July 10, 2025
The Shawna Shea Film Festival (SSFF) is a fringe, independent international film festival. We believe in the importance of independent cinema and festivals, and our goal is to give as much exposure to these kinds of films that push those artistic boundaries as well as provide a platform for the many indie filmmakers out there. Established in 2012, SSFF is a program of the Shawna E. Shea Memorial Foundation, a local 501(c)3 arts nonprofit that honors Shawna’s unique independent spirit by showcasing truly independent films that share the same quality.
Our SSFF2025 edition runs July 16 through 19, Wednesday through Saturday, at two Worcester venues: WICN 90.5 Radio Studio 50; and the Hilton Garden Inn. Film blocks screen mostly all day from noon to about 10 p.m.
As we do every year, we hold our famous closing night awards ceremony with a party and fun networking on Saturday night at the Hilton.
Awards include “Outstanding Achievement” in many categories; and we present the Shawna Spirit Award to those artists who push the boundaries and norms of the artwork, the truly independent artists.
We also present the Female Fellowship Award every year to aspiring female filmmakers from around the world.
