For the 3rd Annual Women’s History Month concert broadcast, Colors of Jazz host, Bonnie Johnson has assembled a multi-generational all-star band to celebrate women’s voices in jazz and soul. The live-streamed performance will include vocalists backed by a trio. Award-winning storyteller, singer, and arts educator, Valerie Stephens will transport the listeners to another world with a tribute to the “High Priestess of Soul” Nina Simone. Keep Ryzin’ singer, Sympli Whitney, returns to Studio 50 with an uplifting medley of R&B that highlights soulful ballads of Anita Baker, and more. The Jazz trio will be led by pianist Hey Rim Jeon, with bassist Ciara Moser and drummer Ivanna Cuesta Gonzalez holding up the rhythm section.
