Birders love to make lists and British birders love pubs. The guest on Inquiry had made a list of birds that appear on pub signs or in pub names. The results are 117 identifiable species in a survey of only 700 pubs! But that’s only the beginning. Many names have a story. On this episode of Inquiry, we talk with Professor Sir JOHN H. LAWTON CBE FRS. He is the former Vice President of the British Trust for Ornithology and is currently Vice President of the RSPB. His new book is INN SEARCH OF BIRDS: PUBS, PEOPLE AND PLACES. Tune in ad learn what the most common “pub birds” are.
